WHY HIP?

To inspire you to use permaculture to create a better life for yourself, and to enjoy doing it.

Hedvig & Irene

Amazing things can happen when weeding. It was a summer’s day in 2012. Hedvig and Irene got talking and shared their enthusiasm for permaculture as well as their frustrations with how it was being shared.

Hedvig, a permaculture teacher, wanted something more interactive so had created her own toolkit from cut up bits of paper. Irene, a graphic designer, thought it sounded useful, but could be “developed” (i.e. made more beautiful). They discovered that together they might be able to create just what they wanted.

Turns out it wasn’t just them that thought it would be useful. So, many cups of tea, a few meals and maybe a few bottles of wine later, HIP was born.

Why HIP? Well, let’s face it, more people can say and write ‘HIP Permaculture’ than ‘Hedvig and Irene’s Permaculture Publications’.

The aim is to inspire you to use permaculture to create a better life for yourself, and to enjoy doing it. We want to help you do this by creating useful and beautiful publications. And with time, we want to add more tools to the kit, make apps, videos and more.
